Camellia produce

I just got back from my first trip to Camellia Produce. First off, let me say that it is one of the cutest vegetable markets I've ever seen. It's rustic and quaint and romantic. Most of their goods are local, fresh and/or organic and they sell pretty much everything you could ask for, except meat and cheese. Not that I'm in the market for meat or anything, I'm just saying...

They had fresh eggs, butter, honey, loads of veggies, beans, rice. It was nice. We haven't had a local produce market in Slidell since Hurricane Katrina shut down the only one we had. Sure we have always had people selling produce from trucks on the side of the road, but it's nice to have a local small business person open up a new shop. One of the great things about the shop is that it is in an area in desperate need of revitalization and I am hoping that the owners see success. It will be good for them, for the local community and for Slidell as a whole.
